What does being a single mother look like...??? Hmmmmmm....
Some days being a single mother looks like waking up after a night of partying. Yours eyes are red, your head hurts, and your body just does not want to move. Being a single parent can be stressful and frightening. Not knowing if you are raising your child in a way the society sees as correct or not, all while trying to find balance between work, parenting, and a social life. On other days being a single mother is watching your heart beat outside of your chest. There is a joy that simply can't be put into words. Watching your child grow and learn almost seems unreal. Some day's I find myself staring at my little one in awe. It just does not seem real. How can someone so pure, so loving, and so kind be mine? The tantrums, the fevers, the school programs, the cuddles, the love, the mommy pick me ups, the kisses please, the "Mikaela clean your rooms", and the stop yelling in my ear moments are all worth it. I wouldn't trade motherhood for anything in this world. Being a mother is a gift. Something that shouldn't be taken for granted. There is nothing that I wouldn't do for this sweet piece of my heart. I will cross the ocean and even go to war to protect her.
